Dr. Gammel received a Doctor of
Medicine degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and
completed a general medical surgical internship in 1968. Dr. Gammel

Rebecca Jackson, RN, BSN, LNCC
Prior to entering nursing, Rebecca spent 20 years working in the insurance industry. She was a business owner and then Vice President of Administration for a large insurance company. She graduated from Nebraska Methodist College with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing in 1992 and began clinical practice in pediatric, orthopedics, neurology, and also has became involved with legal nurse consulting for what is now known as WorkFit. She developed WorkFit’s Medical Legal Department and has 20 years of experience as a Legal Nurse Consultant. She is a certified LNC and a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants and is an owner and the Vice President and Practice Administrator for WorkFit.
Jose R. Novoa, MD
Dr. Novoa is an Omaha native and attended Westside High and Creighton University earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Doctorate of Medicine. He spent three years as Active Duty Military Staff Physician in the Air Force before returning to Omaha in 1991 to serve as Physician in the emergency rooms at Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Alegent Bergan Mercy Medical Center, and at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Novoa has over 20 years of injury care and emergency medicine experience and is board certified. Dr. Novoa practices Occupational Medicine in WorkFit's Clinic and is an Independent Medical Examiner in the Medical-Legal Department. Dr. Novoa is also fluent in Spanish.
Thomas Dunbar, MD
Dr. Dunbar received his Medical Degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center followed by the completion of a Rotating Surgical Internship. For the last 17 years Dr. Dunbar has been the Director of the Archbishop Bergan Mercy Emergency Department and was the Associate Director for the 11 years prior. Dr. Dunbar has over 35 years of injury care experience including having started the Bergan Occupational Health Program in 1986. Dr. Dunbar is a board certified lifetime member of the American Academy of Occupational Medicine, board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and distinguished as a Fellow by the American College of Emergency Medicine and as Diplomat by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Dunbar has provided physician services to underserved rural health clinics and has taught students from both UNMC and Creighton medical colleges.
WorkFit LNCs have Legal Nurse Consulting Certification (LNCC®) from the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants which is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties and are members of the AALNC. WorkFit’s LNCs have extensive clinical, legal, and insurance experience.
Julie Podkovich, RN, BSN, MSA, LNCC, CLCP
Julie completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1991 and her Masters in Business and Health Administration in 1994. Her clinical nursing experience includes clinical manager of neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, pediatrics, labor and delivery, post partum, and newborn nursery. Julie joined what is now known as WorkFit in 1999 specializing as an LNC. She completed her Life Care Planner Certification in 2006. With over 15 years of clinical experience and 10 years as an LNC, she serves as the Manager of WorkFit’s Medical Legal Department.

Connie Bergman-Palmer, RN, LNCC
Connie graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. She practiced hospital medical-surgical nursing, neonatal intensive care, pharmacy, allergy, and otorhinolaryngology. From 1986 until 1996, Connie worked as an LNC at a law firm. In 1996, Connie started her own LNC business and was among the charter group to achieve Legal Nurse Consultant Certification in 1998. In 2002, Connie went to work as a state regulator of long term care and assisted living facilities and was a CMS federally certified Nursing Services Surveyor and Investigator. Connie joined Workfit in 2009 and has over 20 years of clinical experience and 23 years as an LNC.
Erin Perry (Medical Legal Client Services Administrator)
Erin completed her degree in paralegal studies in 2004 and immediately began working as a legal assistant and paralegal at a law firm. With over 8 years of paralegal experience, Erin joined WorkFit in 2013 providing public relations, client support and administration to the Medical Legal Department.
WorkFit employs a Clinic Manager, certified trained nursing clinicians, radiology technicians, physical therapy staff, and billing staff to support Dr. Gammel’s full service clinic providing complete injury care, physicals, independent medical evaluations, second opinions, medical review of records, impairment ratings, drug screening, back screens, and more.

Melissa Gerard, MPT, Director of Physical Therapy
Melissa has a Master Degree in Physical Therapy, over ten years of advanced experience including previous Clinic Director for Physiotherapy Associates. She received her Master's Degree from the University of St. Augustine in Florida in 2001. Her clinical internships included: post-operative outpatient clinic at the University of Arizona; inpatient neurological rehabilitation at Sisken Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and inpatient acute care/wound management at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Melissa delivers outpatient physical therapy, conducts the area's most thorough Post-Offer Musculoskeletal Screens, provides ergonomic reviews/training and recommendations, develops strengthening and exercise programs, and performs FCEs. Melissa has managed WorkFit's PT department for nearly three years as a contract therapist and since early 2012 she has been a full employee of WorkFit.
Elaine Cockrell, Clinic Billing and Accountingng
Elaine worked in the Business and Administration offices at Creighton University Hospital for 40 years handling billing and insurance. Since 2008, Elaine manages WorkFit Occupational Health clinic billing and collections.

Sonya Baker, MA
Sonya graduated from Vatterott College in 2006 with an Associates degree in Medical Assisting. She is certified to do breath alcohol tests and DOT drug screens. She has been with WorkFit since 2006 working in the clinic with patients and in the front office.
Lindsay Wrieth, MA
Lindsay is a recent graduate of Clarkson College,
with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging and an Associate of Science in
Radiologic Technology. She is a registered radiologic technologist and a member of the
Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists. Lindsay also has a Bachelor of Science
in Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and has over 12 years

She is a registered radiologic technologist and a member of the Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists. Danica Clardy, MA
Danica Clardy, MA
graduated from Vaterott College in 2010 with an Associates degree in
Assisting. She does limited radiology and is certified in CPR. She worked in family
medicine for about a year before joining the WorkFit team. Danica works in the clinic with patients and in the front office. She has been with WorkFit since 2012.
Currently the IT Administrator at
WorkFit, he brings a varied background to the company including being a
college teacher for 10 years; a classical music announcer for 4 years;
and a head hunter for the banking industry.
Previous IT work includes various infrastructure and programming
duties at public radio station KFJM in
Holly Hollenbeck, JD (Director, Business Development)
A graduate of Creighton University with a Bachelor’s of Science Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate, Holly practiced law for over 10 years – first at Cassem, Tierney Law Firm doing worker’s compensation, medical malpractice, and personal injury defense; and then at CSG Systems as Corporate Counsel. In 2002, Holly left the formal practice of law to run The Attitude Authority doing public speaking, writing, and marketing. Holly joined WorkFit in 2009 as director of the marketing and business development department.
