Thomas E. Dunbar, MD

Dr. Dunbar received his Medical Degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center followed by the completion of a Rotating Surgical Internship. For 17 years Dr. Dunbar was the Director of the Archbishop Bergan Mercy Emergency Department and was the Associate Director for 11 years prior. Dr. Dunbar has over 35 years of injury care experience and started the Bergan Occupational Health Program in 1986. Dr. Dunbar is a Board Certified lifetime member of the American Academy of Occupational Medicine, Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, distinguished as a Fellow by the American College of Emergency Medicine and as Diplomat by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Dunbar has provided physician services to under-served rural health clinics and has taught students from both UNMC and Creighton medical colleges. In his free time, Dr. Dunbar enjoys golfing, bike riding and spending time with his new granddaughter.

Walter S. Wood, MD

Dr. Wood earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles. From there, he went on to pursue his Doctorate of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies, while completing his clinical rotations in the United States. Dr. Wood completed a Family Medicine Residency as well as a Rural Fellowship through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Since then, he has served as a physician at Nebraska Medicine in Bellevue, Jenny Edmundson Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, and Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Association of Family Physicians, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association. Dr. Wood is Board Certified in Emergency and Family Medicine and brings over 20 years of experience to the clinic. In his free time, Dr. Wood enjoys bicycling on local trails in Nebraska and loves to attend his three sons’ soccer games.

Tammy Hunke, PA-C

Tammy graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with BS in biology then later from UNMC with honors as a Physician Assistant.  Tammy is certified by the NCCPA and DOT Licensing.  She previously practiced family medicine for 25 years with experience in ER and Urgent Care settings.  She also has served as a preceptor of PA students from UNMC for 15 years.  Tammy has vast clinical experience with a variety of occupational health issues, injuries and treatments.

Alexis Barbosa, APRN-NP

Alexis Barbosa is nationally certified as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing at Clarkson College of Omaha. She has over seven years of experience working at Nebraska Medicine on an adult medical-surgical unit. She also was a director of nursing at an assisted living specializing in memory care. Alexis is married to her husband Rafael, and they have three children. She enjoys traveling, attending music concerts, and spending time by the water.

Kendra Boehm, PT, DPT, CEAS I/II

Kendra received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2007. Prior to her Doctoral degree, she graduated from Doane College with a major in Biology. Kendra is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She is licensed in Nebraska and credentialed as an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR and AED), Basic Facial Movement Taping, IASTM and an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor. She has over 12 years of clinical experience in pediatrics, orthopedics, skilled nursing care, work comp, and acute care (ICU, NICU, PICU, Oncology, Cardiopulmonary, Wound Care, Med Surge, and Orthopedics). Prior to joining WorkFit in January of 2019, Kendra worked at Old Mill Rehabilitation as the Assistance Director and also served as Interim Director of Rehabilitation. Kendra serves as WorkFit’s Director of Physical Therapy Rehabilitation, Ergonomic and Prevention Services Department and is certified to complete Job Demand Analysis’, Ergonomic Assessments, Post Offer Employment Tests, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Hardening and Work Conditioning. She enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 children and Australian Shepard. In Kendra’s spare time she likes scrapbooking, decorating cakes and running 5K’s.

Raef Steffen, PT Technician

Raef received his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas in 2020 and earned his Associates in Physical Therapy Assistant degree from Clarkson College in 2022. He has experience in working in outpatient, inpatient, and rural settings. Raef joined the WorkFit team in February 2023 and is eager to help the Work Compensation population get back to doing whatever it is they love.
